The original Tamworth Shotokan Karate Club was
established in the late 1960’s and was based at the Rugby Club, Wiggington
Park. The Club Instructor at the time was Richard Davison. Grading Examiners
were Sensei’s Asano and Kawasoe.

The Club eventually moved location to Wilnecote School/Sports Centre
and now enjoys good training facilities and a thriving membership. The Chief
Instructor is Rob Welsh 6th Dan who is assisted by three other
senior Dan Grades. In recent times the Club has been successful in
competition and has notably won the ‘Best Club’ trophy in Kata competition at
the Central Region Championships for the last five years (2005 to 2009).
